Mr Odedele Akintayo Adekunle Introduces Participants to Digital Imaging Advancement

 

Modern technological advancement in radiography was thoroughly explored by Mr Odedele Akintayo Adekunle during his lecture on Introduction to Daylight/Digital Image Processing (MXT 303). 

He exposed participants to digital imaging systems, computerized processing methods, and the transition from conventional darkroom techniques to daylight and digital platforms.

His session emphasized efficiency, speed, image storage solutions, and the importance of adapting to contemporary digital radiography trends within the healthcare system.

 Participants gained insight into how digital transformation is reshaping diagnostic services and improving patient care outcomes.

The diversity of lecturers and subject areas at the retraining programme reflects the structured and comprehensive approach adopted by the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN). 


The programme continues to reinforce professional competence, promote safety standards, and enhance technical expertise among X-ray technicians.

Dr.


Moshood Idowu Yusuf delivered comprehensive lectures on Atomic and Radiation Physics (MXT 112), where he examined the scientific principles behind radiation production, interaction with matter, and radiation safety measures.

 He stressed the importance of controlled exposure, patient protection, and compliance with regulatory standards in radiographic practice.

Beyond theoretical physics, Dr. Yusuf also facilitated Manual Film Processing: Equipment and Techniques (MXT 202). 

He demonstrated the correct handling of processing chemicals, equipment maintenance, and step-by-step procedures required to achieve optimal radiographic film development. 

His lectures reinforced both safety consciousness and technical competence among participants.

Miss. Oyedele Baleekis Temilade Emphasizes Equipment Management and Quality Assurance

 The programme further progressed with detailed sessions delivered by Miss. Oyedele Baleekis Temilade. She handled Automatic Film Processing: Equipment and Techniques (MXT 205), where participants were introduced to modern automated processing systems, operational guidelines, and maintenance culture necessary for efficient service delivery.

She also addressed Darkroom Health Hazards and Quality Assurance (MXT 206), highlighting environmental safety, chemical hazard management, and systematic quality control procedures in radiographic departments. Her lecture on Basic Radiographic Equipment (MXT 302) provided practical knowledge about the functions, calibration, and routine servicing of essential radiographic machines.


Her sessions focused on ensuring that participants not only understand the equipment but also operate them responsibly in line with global best practices.

Brig. Gen. Solomon Ekott David (Rtd) Provides Strong Academic Foundation in Anatomy and Image Processing

 


The academic sessions of the ongoing X-Ray Technicians Retraining Programme at Legend College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ikirun, commenced with impactful lectures delivered by Brig. Gen. Solomon Ekott David (Rtd). He facilitated Human Anatomy I (ANA 121) and Human Anatomy II (ANA 122), where he carefully guided participants through the structural organization of the human body, including skeletal systems, muscular frameworks, and internal organs relevant to radiographic procedures.

His lectures emphasized the importance of anatomical accuracy in diagnostic imaging, explaining how proper understanding of body landmarks enhances precision in positioning and image interpretation. Participants were engaged in interactive discussions that linked anatomical theory directly to clinical radiographic practice.

In addition, Brig. Gen. Ekott David handled Medical Image Processing (MXT 102), focusing on the principles of producing high-quality diagnostic images. He discussed exposure factors, image clarity, contrast management, and the need for strict adherence to professional standards. His sessions laid a solid academic foundation for the retraining programme.

Registration, Verification, and Materials Distribution Ongoing for RRBN Refresher Programme at Legend College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ikirun Activities at Legend College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ikirun, continued smoothly as participants of the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN) Refresher Programme underwent registration, verification of results, screening, and distribution of programme materials.

The exercise was conducted in an orderly and transparent manner, with officials carefully verifying participants’ academic and professional documents to ensure compliance with RRBN requirements. 

Screening procedures were carried out to confirm eligibility, while approved training materials were issued to participants to support effective learning throughout the programme.

Both the RRBN Board and the School Management monitored the process, expressing satisfaction with the level of organization and cooperation displayed by participants.

 Participants for the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN) Refresher Programme arrived yesterday at Legend College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ikirun, Osun State, ahead of the commencement of the approved programme.

RRBN Approves Legend College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ikirun to Host Refresher Course




*Radiographer Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN) approved Legend College of Health Sciences and Technology Ikirun to host RRBN Refresher Course.*

Recalling that RRBN organizing two (2) weeks retraining course for medical X-ray Technicians that graduated from institutions that were not approved by the Board before 2024. It is a measure to remedy their training status/gaps before certification by RRBN.

Sequel to that, RRBN announced the approval of Legend College of Health Science and Technology, Ikirun for Medical X-ray Technicians (MXT) retraining course. The breaking news came up on the 5th of December, 2025.

You will also recall that the first batch of RRBN Refresher Course zoned to Southwest was conducted in October 2025 at Akure, Ondo State. This is another opportunity for the people of Southwestern Nigeria. Kudos to those behind it.

The requirements are;

Legend College of Health Sciences and Technology Releases 2025/2026 Academic Calendar — Official Resumption Set for November 16




The management of Legend College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ikirun (LECOHSTECH) has officially announced Sunday, November 16, 2025, as the resumption date for all fresh students of the 2025/2026 academic session.

According to the approved academic calendar released by the institution, registration for fresh students will begin on Monday, November 17, and run through Friday, December 12, 2025. Late registration will follow from Monday, December 15 to Friday, December 19, 2025, while orientation for new students has been scheduled for Wednesday, December 17 to Thursday, December 18, 2025.

Lectures for all students are set to commence on Monday, December 22, 2025, and will continue for 12 weeks. The semester will include one week of revision and three weeks of examinations.

The First Semester Examinations are expected to begin on Monday, March 23, 2026, and end on Friday, April 10, 2026, while the First Semester officially concludes on Saturday, April 11, 2026.

For the Second Semester, activities will commence on Sunday, May 3, 2026, with registration for all students running from Monday, May 4 to Friday, May 8, 2026. Lectures will begin immediately on Monday, May 4, 2026, and are scheduled to end on Friday, July 24, 2026.

The Second Semester Examinations will hold from Monday, August 3 to Saturday, August 22, 2026, while the semester officially ends on Sunday, August 23, 2026.

After examinations, students will proceed to SIWES/Practical Training from Monday, August 31 to Sunday, October 30, 2026, allowing them to gain hands-on professional experience in their various fields.

The management emphasized that all students are expected to adhere strictly to the academic calendar, as lectures and other academic activities will begin immediately upon resumption.

Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN) accredited Legend College of Health Sciences and Technology (LECOHSTECH), Ikirun.

 

On Monday 29th of September, 2025, another chapter was opened in the academic history of the college when the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN) gave the college a nod to operate the Department of Medical X-ray Technician and Imaging Processing.



The board, led by its Secretary to the Board, Dr Malarchy Ejimofor, moved round the college premises to inspect the members of staff, structures, and the facilities installed for the training of students.

Dr. Ejimofor greatly commended the school and said  the tempo should be steadily sustained. He encouraged stakeholders in the Southwest to endeavour to train more students in radiography because we have a shortage of experts in this field in the region. According to him, what this implies is that graduates of this department will not have a problem getting a job. 



In his reaction, the Ag. Provost of the college, Dr. Moshood Yusuff promised to improve on what is on the ground to move the institution to the next level.



Also, in his response, the Chairman of the Governing Board of the college Professor Yaqub Fabiyi acknowledged the effort of the board for ensuring quality in term of infrastructure. He thereby pleaded with the board to recognize the efforts of private individuals' contributions to the development of health sector despite difficult financial situation.



 In his remark, the Vice-Chairman of the Governing Board of the college Professor Sunday Owolabi pledged that the college has taken note  of all the observations and reports of the board and that all the necessary amendment will be effected.



Also, in attendance were the Proprietor of the college Pharmacist Jubril Adeyemi, the Ag.  Deputy Provost Academics of the college Dr. Tunde Lawal the Ag.Registrar Mr I. J Alimi, the Ag. Bursar Mrs. Rasheed Sakira, the Head of Department of X-ray Mr. J.  Fredrick, the Head of the Department of Public Health Mr S. O Odewale. All other members of staff of the institution were fully on ground for the success of the accreditation exercise.

Dental Therapists Registration Board of Nigeria (DTRBN) accredited Legend College of Health Sciences and Technology (LECOHSTEC) Ikirun


Earlier in February this year, the government gave approval to LECOHSTECH Ikirun to operate as a higher institution of learning, specialized in Health Sciences and Technology. Consequence upon the approval, the College kicked off the accreditation with DSTBN



September 12th, 2025 was a red letter day in the history of LECOHSTECH located on Eko-Ende road, I


kirun. It was a memorable day when DSTBN greatly lauded LECOHSTECH on her quest for excellence.


The board, led by its Registrar, Dr. Anisere, who, together with his team, went round the college premises to inspect the state of the art facilities put in place by the college.


During the exercise, the team went round to inspect the staff offices, lecture rooms and halls, laboratories, library and dental equipment, thereby eulogizing the college's investment in infrastructure. Dr. Anisere commended the college for starting the Dental Department on a good note. He emphasized the importance of skill acquisition in health education, remarking that practical competence must go pari passu with academic knowledge to meet the requirements of the modern-day health sector. He also advised the college to expose students to more digital instruments so as not to be found wanting when they get to their place of employment.


In his response, the Ag. Provost of the college, Dr. Moshood Yusuff assured the DSTBN team of the college's preparedness to meet all the accreditation requirements. He reaffirmed the institution's desire to produce highly skilled health professionals who will serve both locally and internationally.



Also, on the attendance were the Proprietor of the LECOHSTECH, Pharm. Jubril Adeyemi, the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Governing Council of the college, Prof. Yaqub Fabiyi and Prof. Sunday Owolabi, respectively. The Ag. HoD of Department of Dental Surgery Technician and Dental Therapy Technology, Mrs. R. B. Ogundele, Ag HoD of Public Health Department, Mr. S. O. Odewale were also in attendance.
